The five-day toppers’ conclave slated at Raj Bhawan from August 8 to 12 would be inaugurated by Governor Krishan Kant Paul on August 8 at 10.15 am while Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat, Bharat Ratna awardee Prof CNR Rao and the state higher education minister Dhan Singh Rawat would be present. Prof Rao will be the guest speaker for this year’s conclave. The event was started in 2015 at the initiative of the Governor to encourage the young talents of the state. The initiative has won appreciation from the teachers, the students and the intelligentsia.
Toppers of the state’s universities are publicly honoured at the conclave so as to inspire the youngsters to do better. The toppers get the opportunity to express their views on a number of subjects before well known educationists and intellectuals. This helps them gain confidence and be creative.
This will be the third such conclave to be held at the auditorium of Raj Bhawan with Prof Rao addressing it on the inaugural day. Chief secretary S Ramaswamy will speak on “Importance of good governance in development with reference of Uttarakhand”.
On August 9, VC of Uttarakhand Technical University P K Garg will speak on “Smart Cities and Urban development with special reference to planning and transportation”.VC of GB Pant University of Agriculture and Technology, J Kumar will deliver a talk on “Economic development of hill and rural areas and making agriculture more profitable”. DG of UCOST, Rajendra Dobhal will talk on “ Role of scientific inventions in economic development”.
On the third day, August 10, Savita, director of FRI ,will speak about “ Livelihood issues of Uttarakhand and role of forestry”. Professor Anoop Kumar Gakkhar will address on “Ayurveda in our daily lives and Herbal Uttarakhand, the way forward”. On the same day, the toppers will be taken to Centre for Aromatic Plants (CAP) at Selaqui for a visit.
On the fourth day, Anil P Joshi will give a lecture on “Rural Economy, its development in Uttarakhand-Innovative techniques”. Ex-VC of HNB Garhwal University Prof S P Singh will speak on “Climate change in relation to Himalayas”. VC of Kumaun University Prof D K Nauriyal will speak on “Role of Uttarakhand in National development economy”.
On the concluding day, Lokesh Ohri from INTACH will present his views on “Art, culture, heritage and creativity in Uttarakhand”.
